Peter Clark : Paperwork – Priced at £24.95

Old maps, love letters, stamps, playing cards, match boxes, rosettes, buttons and labels all form the starting point of Clark’s innovative and often humourous paper collages. He undertakes scavenger trips to antiques fairs, markets and second hand stores to find the right objects to inspire him. Paperwork presents the working methods of this unique and talented artist, showing the progression of his work from found ephemera to amazingly detailed, colourful and engaging works of art.

Peters new show- ‘ Showing Off ‘ will begin at Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery Conway Street, on the 2nd December until the 24th December 2009. The booked will be launched at the show with artist and author present for book signing.

Thursday night saw the opening of Helen Flockhart’s beautiful new show: Back To The Garden. We were delighted to open the night with the artist herself, who had made the journey all the way from Scotland.

Helen Flockhart’s rich, meticulously crafted paintings are charged with an averting power.  It is a power that derives not merely from the extraordinarily detailed execution of each work, but also from the idiosyncratic imagery that the artist employs.

On Thursday night RHG Conway Street transformed into a theater! Various tales and stories were shared and performed, with beautiful hand woven clothes, billums and a backdrop of sculptures and ornaments to set the scene. A truly delightful insight into the rich diversity of cultures that make up Papua New Guinea.

The live Art Performance was curated by Rosanna Raymond and featured bilumwear by Cathy Kata and a performance by Dr Michael Mel.

Tuesday night saw the launch of Ann Stokes new book – Ann Stokes:Artists Potter. Charlotte Street was packed with people waiting to get books signed by Ann and nearly all the works were sold out! A stunning show that was enjoyed by all who went: well done Ann!

Conway Street saw the opening of the fabulous new show: Hailans to Ailans. People had come from all round the globe to see the first ever major exhibition of contemporary art from Papua New Guinea. The show boasted a vast wealth of extraordinary treasures and was opened by Jean Kekedo the High Commissioner of Papua New Guinea.
