Piers Bourke showing at the Marylebone hotel until 10th January 2012!
Piers Bourke’s exhibition at The Marylebone Hotel (47 Welbeck St, W1G 8DN) opened on Wednesday 12th October and runs to 10th January.
With the eyes of the art world on London for the Frieze Art Fair in October, The Marylebone Hotel is going one step further – bringing art direct to hotel guests and visitors, with an exclusive micro-exhibition in association with the local Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery.
An exhibition of giant three dimensional artworks by London artist Piers Bourke will be installed at The Marylebone hotel, a member of The Doyle Collection of hotels, for a month. Guests and visitors to the hotel will be given exclusive access to work by this internationally acclaimed artist.
Richard Alexander, The Marylebone Hotel’s General Manager says: ‘As a hotel, we always strive to offer our guests something extra special. For art-lovers, this installation is an unprecedented opportunity for us to bring exciting new art direct to our guests.’
London-based artist Piers Bourke has exhibited his unique three dimensional artworks around the world. Inspired by architecture and the natural world, his work uses a mix of materials, including photography, wood, perspex and metal, to create multi-faceted sculptures and canvases.
Piers Bourke’s work is not only highly impactful but by extracting images and assembling them in an abstract way, he aims to create environments and spaces that lack logic but still have uniformity.
Commenting on his creative style, Piers Bourke says: “Using techniques such as linear perspective, scale and size, which are the basic ideas behind all my work, I can extract objects, people or images from their everyday habitats and place them within an unreal environment to create a space that the viewer in their mind, has not seen or been before.”
The exhibition and partnership with the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery follows the hotel’s tradition of working with local businesses to celebrate and support Marylebone’s ‘village’ spirit. Produce for the hotel’s ONE08 restaurant is sourced from butchers and shops on Marylebone High Street, and the hotel creates bespoke walking tours of local attractions for guests.
Piers Bourke’s exhibition at The Marylebone Hotel (47 Welbeck St, W1G 8DN) opened on Wednesday 12th October and runs to 9th November.
Top floor at Conway Street transformed for acclaimed producer, Paul Trijbit’s birthday
Paul Trijbit recently partied in style at the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery to celebrate his 50th birthday. Ian Penney painted a dazzling window display, cocktails were at the ready, the DJ set up home with a backdrop of Iain Nutting’s infamous, Dog In Car piece and boy, did people dance! The top floor became an interior designer’s dream and was transformed into a smooth chilling out zone complete with an array of rugs, surrounded by a faux jungle-esque net and aboriginal art works – a perfect spot to rest those dancing feet.
Our oh so pretty stair case leading to the terrace.
Lighting to compliment our lovely red stair case.
Who needs Bonfire Night in a few weeks, when we have our own light display?
EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!
..AND KEEP DANCING!
and dance they did – all night long.
