Sadly, their three month spell came to an end – Rebecca and Matthew presented them with a print by their favourite artists, Peter Clark and Emma Haworth – a well deserved gift.

Peter Clark Dog Collages

Peter Clark is an epically-talented collage artist who focuses much of his expertise on creating dog collage portraits. The workmanship evidenced in his pieces completely blows me away. Peter uses an extensive collection of found papers as his palette “which are colored, patterned or textured by their printed, written, or worn surfaces.” He uses this found media to “paint” his collages. And the results are completely stunning!

Peter uses print densities to shade his collage portraits, which give them depth and substance not typically found in collage art. He also uses lines from some of the old maps he uses to create beautiful movement in his art. I think the Scottie above is a breathtaking example of that.

I can’t imagine how brilliant these pieces must be in real life! I hope to come across one someday. Until then, I’ll definitely be adding Peter Clark’s Paperwork book to my Christmas wish list!

What a week we’ve had at the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery.

Not one, or even two, but three private views this week!

Rebecca flew to New York for Andew Taylor’s private view on Monday, caught a plane, first thing the next day and got back in time for David Whitaker’s opening night, then off for a NADFAS lecture on Wednesday, before making it back to attend Ken Butler’s private view!!

And there was re-organising Rebecca Jewell’s show in between all that!

Phew!

All shows have started brilliantly and all received an excited bunch of visitors, friends and family.

Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery continues to take the world by storm.

If David Whitaker’s private view wasn’t enough, we had the splendid new works by the lovely Ken Butler on show this Thursday night. Ken was reportedly anxious – Would people come? Would people be interested in his work? Ken had no reason to be worried – Charlotte street became packed, works flew off the walls and everyone was full of nothing but compliments!

David Whitaker’s breathtaking retrospective opened this Tuesday 6 December and was superbly attended. Everyone who came were captivated by David’s mind boggling colourful optical artworks. He truly was a master of his craft.

The show became busy right from the start with people eager to see our extensive collection of David’s work charting his career.

Another fantastic private view at Conway street – make sure you come and see this unforgettable show. It will firmly leave a lasting, awe inspiring impression upon you!
