It was quite a night to behold last Thursday when the Charlotte Street Gallery played host to a number of London’s most extravagant residents. Rob Clarkes A-Z of Dogs show opened and the VIP guests included the 1st Class Pugs and Eddie and Monty the Chiwawas. While the parents of a fore mentioned VIP’s drank “Dogtails” they were able to take in the fabulous prints and paintings by Rob Clarke. Although it was difficult to have a good look as the Gallery was packed out, with people spilling out into the street causing much curiosity as passers by were left confused as to the mixed-species guest list. The party was a great success and the show is fantastic. Don’t miss out on a chance to see it. Ends 21st April.

Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery Conway Street saw the opening of the fabulous new exhibition by the renowned collage artist Peter Clark. The show marked the launch of Peter’s fantastic new book Paperwork and was enjoyed by everyone who went.

Old maps, love letters, stamps, playing cards, match boxes, rosettes, buttons and labels all form the starting point of Clark’s innovative and often humourous paper collages. He undertakes scavenger trips to antiques fairs, markets and second hand stores to find the right objects to inspire him. Paperwork presents the working methods of this unique and talented artist, showing the progression of his work from found ephemera to amazingly detailed, colourful and engaging works of art.

The exhibtion runs until 24 December 2009 at Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery Conway Street.

Wednesday night saw the opening of Caroline Bullocks charming new show at 28 Charlotte Street. The new collection of delicate naive paintings express beautifully the artists personal thoughts and observations. With a twist of humor in places (take note of the Duck House) this delightful show is a rare treat not to be missed.

The show runs until 14 November at 28 Charlotte Street.

Over the weekend of 5 and 6 December, the Charlotte Street Gallery will be open from 10 – 8.30 pm on Saturday and 10 – 6.30 pm on Sunday.

A wonderful selection of handmade treasures specially selected from all around the world: jewelery by Pippa Small, ceramics by Ann Stokes, hand embroidered shawls from Nepal and a menagerie of beaded animals await you and will make the perfect Christmas presents!
